The Society
The St. Louis Peregrine Society is dedicated to improving the quality of life of cancer patients living in the St. Louis area.
The St. Louis Peregrine Society, named for the 13th century missionary Peregrine, has been serving cancer patients in St. Louis City and St. Louis County since 1949.
At that time, a group of caring St. Louisans recognized a pressing need to establish a community service program for cancer patients. Through their efforts, the Peregrine Society was formed as a local, non-for-profit organization to aid cancer patients in need.
Since the Society was established, thousands of cancer patients have been aided through the Society’s various service programs. The ages and backgrounds of Peregrine's patients vary as do their needs. The Society evaluates each patient on an individual basis.
Volunteers have always been a vital part of the Peregrine Society. They assist in a variety of activities, including making cancer dressings, transporting patients to and from treatment centers, helping with office functions and assisting the animal fund raising campaign.
Volunteers are recruited from religious, fraternal, civic and business organizations. Peregrine’s volunteer corps numbers in the hundreds and works year round on behalf of the Society to assist cancer patients in need.
